Tzu Chi Culture and Communication Foundation is seeking a full-time English translator and editor.
Responsibilities:
1. Translate Chinese subtitles into English and edit English subtitles for a range of video content
2. Translate and adapt news stories into English and write English voice-over scripts for videos
3. Write and translate social media content in Chinese and English, and help manage bilingual social media channels
4. Abridge English-language magazine articles and assist with editing and producing English-language publications
5. Translate English subtitles into Chinese for foreign documentaries
Requirements:
1. A bachelor's degree or higher in any discipline; translation or editing experience preferred
2. Strong Chinese and English skills, proficiency in translation and editing, and the ability to write clear, natural English
3. Attention to detail, patience, and the ability to stay focused and meet deadlines
4. A willingness to learn, openness to editorial feedback, and good communication and teamwork skills
5. Support for Tzu Chi's mission and values and a willingness to learn about Buddhist teachings; basic knowledge of Buddhism is a plus
